Yesterday was fun.. I woke up early on my day off and got some errands done. I dropped off my art at Clark Hall and the receptionist acted like she didnt know what to do with it... so yeah, I hope she figures that business out. I bought a new student ID too since my other one got jacked. I have to go take a picture for it in the union Mon. It's poo though cause my other one was so funny... My hair was all up, I had on a DIO tee from 1985, and my smile was caused from laughing [and those look 10x better than fake smiles]... plus it was after the grueling ordeal that is Southeastern's Freshmen Orientation, so the picture totally commemorated the experience. Not to mention the card had $30.00 on it... coffee money! grr. I also got an oil change and car wash yesterday... Kivy is so excited.

So after I got done with all that business, I went to the easter egg hunt we were hosting with the Theta Chi's. Those boys are awesome and it was really fun doing some community service with them. All the kids that came to the easter egg hunt were from the Hammond Boys and Girls Club and they were all black which made the say even more hilarious because they'd be fighting over eggs and yelling phrases like "oh no you didn't"... and I was talking to one of our new members Jessica and she had on these platform sneaker deals with cherries all over em [REALLY cute!]. So one kid comments "she look like an elevata'" and I laughed and looked at her and asked "going up?" and the kid goes "oh dat's COLD"... yeah, guess you had to be there. A whole herd of kids were running after Scott Ploof at one point... needless to say he got nailed pretty good with the eggs... [Stop and picture that]... it was so funny. I think the kids have fun. We were definitely entertained.

So Strawberry festival was last night and I only saw one mullet and two children getting slapped around. Apparently the new trend is airbrushing your name on a sunvisor... we saw three of these. Did I mention I was there at night? Me and Jessi are going to get some visors airbrushed that say "Baby Girl".... who is with us!?
I'll keep you updated on the Strawberry *cough*WT*cough* Festival.

Well I'm going to get ready... Sisterhood is today and all of our new girls are getting big sisters! :D

Subject:surgery
Time:10:35 pm

Mom's surgery was at St. Tammany hospital today. I felt pretty terrible because I wasn't there when they took her back to the OR. I had been up all morning finishing an art assignment I put off all weekend and had to run it by class before I could leave. The rain set me back and I wound up getting there an hour after they had taken her. I felt horrible because what if something bad would've happened... that would have been the last time I would have gotten to have seen her. :( [Thankfully things went smooth]

So in case you don't know mom's case, let me get you up to date: She has an abnormal growth of adhesions [scar tissue]. In you or me, after an operation we would develop scar tissue internally as thin "sheets" of tissue. Mom's scar tissue is quite the opposite-- her scar tissue develops as long ropes that constantly wrap around organs, often cutting them off. [If you ever hear me use the word obstruction, that means adhesions have wrapped around her colon = unable to go to the bathroom or eat... this unfortunately happens to her quite frequently] Her scar tissue problems started at age 19 after having a hysterectomy. Mom has had many surgeries to combat this problem, but everything they have tried, including chemotherapy, has not slowed the problem. About 6 years ago we sought help from a surgeon in Chalmette-- he performed her 19th abdominal surgery. During this removal of adhesions, part of her small intestines and large intestines were removed [they were dead from the constant squeezing cause by adhesions]. In this jumble of intestines, a part that was still alive and absorbing magnesium was removed. She now has to take daily infusions of magnesium through a cathedar in her chest. The problem of adhesions/obstructions has greatly increased since her last surgery leading to today's surgery.. her 20th.

The doctors went in to find a great mass of adhesions attached to the abdominal wall. They were able to remove most of these adhesions, which should bring mom some relief. The doctors were concerned when they found the intestines not freely moving [they should look like a can of worms] but instead found them stuck together [like they were super-glued]. He could not discern which intestines were large, which were small, and even where the colon was. He could not even see the liver. He was unable to free the intestines... the risk of preforating them would have been too great. Hopefully as time goes on she will be able to eat again. I don't think she has eaten anything in at least 2 months.

When she came out of recovery and back to the room, she was really alert. I was a little weirded out because she is usually very groggy and in intense pain after a surgery like this [she has a 14 in. incision on her abdomen]... but she was telling me that she had to be back for 7 because there was a movie on lifetime she wanted to see, lol. She has epidural tube running into her spine that is connected to a pump that contains morphine and a numbing agent. She presses a button every 15 mins and can't feel the pain. Thank God for that!

It's still not going to be an easy road ahead... the adhesions will come back as they always do, and that means we'll have more operations ahead of us. Plus, if she can't eat food, we may be faced with the decision to put a feeding tube in which means she will never be able to eat solid food again. Hopefully this surgery will provide a period of relief she needs.

I'm thinkin about suing mcdonalds. Just looking at the golden arches makes me want to get a super-sized #4 which will make me fat. Hey, if that guy could win a million because mcdonalds wouldn't turn him away, why can't I?

McDonald's is also cutting out their super-size menu which i find sad. I love me a gigantic order of fries! MMM! [my thighs are proof!] http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/03/02/mcdonalds.supersize.ap/

I'm starting a car air freshener collection. I love their cheap smell and the way they ghettify [whoa new word there]a car, particularly when wrapper is left on leaving half a pine tree exposed. So yeah, donate to my collection. I'll give you a stick of gum or something cool like that. Shit, I may even autograph it.

In unrelated news, I am selling my sugar glider. Leave me a comment if you or someone you know may be interested and we can work out a price. :) I just dont have the time to really devote to his care and train him. Goodbye Biscuit!

So I'm going to make flyers to post about biscuit around school. bYe! <3 b
